My Name is Earl's quirky, hot mess of a little sister who happens to be hot and funny
Raising Hope is on Tuesday nights immediately following Glee on FOX created by (My Name is Earl's creator) Greg Garcia. I am a Goonie (represent) and with Goonie alum Martha Plimpton at the forefront, I had to check it out. The main character, Jim Chance (Lucas Neff), is a 25 year old who still lives with his parents Burt (Garret Dillahunt from Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Virginia (Martha Plimpton) who actually still live in Maw-Maw's (Cloris Leachman) house.
Jim meets a girl and after a one night stand, she is found out to be a wanted murdered who is sent to the electric chair which leaves Jim to inherit little Hope. After you get past the ridiculous initial storyline it is actually quite a charming and wonderful show. Plimpton and Dillahunt are marvelous as Jimmy's underachieving, meddlesome parents who help Jim raise Hope (though sometimes they themselves need parenting). Maw Maw is a hoot when she has the chance to stumble on or off the screen with her degenerative condition, more times than not leaving her topless. Sabrina is Jim's cute love interest who is not necessarily interested in Jim but shines when making fun of her controlling boss at the grocery store.
The family is a train wreck and sometimes trashtastic but somehow it always works brilliantly on screen.
Jason Lee will be guest starring on the November 30th episode and though he won't be reprising his role as Earl, I'm sure it will be someone just as colorful. (TV Guide)
Yes, that is Maw Maw (Cloris Leachman) dressed up as a kitty cat for the Halloween episode. Why the hell not!? When Maw Maw eats too much candy she reverts to her five year old self and its awesomely funny.
Can't wait for the Thanksgiving shenanigans.
